]]>The holiday season tends to come with its fair share of cheers, toasts, and clinking glasses. I, too, found myself savoring a bit too much wine, beer, and brunch mimosas. Enter Dry January – a commitment to 31 days sans alcohol. Joined by friends and colleagues, the challenge felt both personal and communal.
The Journey: 28 Days Strong:
For 28 days, I embraced the alcohol-free lifestyle with surprising ease. It was a revelation: I discovered more willpower within me than I had thought possible. The support of friends on the same journey added an extra layer of support, making the challenge feel like a shared triumph.
A Detox for Body and Soul:
What started as a resolution turned out to be a form of self-love. The detox wasn’t just for my body it was also an opportunity to keep exploring my habits and how I take care of myself. Clear-headed and energized, I felt appreciation for the resilience of my body and its capacity for positive change.
Post-January Reflections: While I couldn’t refuse a good glass of wine while I traveled to Madrid on day 29, I embraced it without guilt. Now, I’ve reintroduced occasional indulgences, understanding that moderation is key. I’ve learned that periodic “dry” months can be important to reset my body and mind.
Closing Thoughts: Dry January taught me that self-love extends beyond the physical to the choices we make. As I continue my journey, I wonder, what other acts of self-love can I incorporate into my life? How do you show your body the love it deserves?
I also want to say, that in addition to doing this challenge with friends, an amazing tool that helped me track my progress, was this simple journal, like the ones that you can find at the TYSAH store

]]>The post In November say “NO” to… appeared first on TYSAH.
]]>At TYSAH, we’re committed to promoting self-care and wellness as essential components of your healing journey. In the spirit of prioritizing your well-being, we’re sharing valuable advice this month on what to say NO to, so that you can say YES to other activities instead that will support your healing journey. By embracing these self-care principles, you can reduce stress and improve your overall health. Let’s dive into four essential “Say NO to…” practices that will empower you to treat yourself with kindness and embrace well-being.
You’ve probably heard it before, but it’s worth repeating: adequate sleep is the foundation of a healthy and balanced life. Say NO to sleep deprivation, and make it a priority to get the recommended amount of sleep each night. A well-rested body and mind are more resilient, less stressed, and better equipped to tackle life’s challenges. Implement a sleep routine, create a calming bedtime ritual, and invest in a comfortable mattress and pillows. Your future self will thank you for your improved focus, mood, and overall well-being. Something that always helps me to sleep well and avoid sleep deprivation is to take a shower and create a ritual, you can use certain TYSAH tools to do so, such as: natural soap bars, essential oils and candles. You can get them individually at www.tysah.com or as part of a Build-A-Box for Any Occasion here.
Saying NO to overcommitting is saying YES to self-care. It’s time to set healthy boundaries that allow you to balance work, family, and personal time. Overloading your schedule can lead to stress, exhaustion, and burnout. Prioritize your well-being by making time for relaxation, hobbies, and leisure activities. A balanced life is a more fulfilled life. Start by decluttering your schedule, leaving space for self-care, and discovering the joy of free time.
Negative self-talk can be detrimental to your well-being. Say NO to self-criticism and self-doubt by embracing self-compassion. Treat yourself with the kindness and understanding you deserve. Challenge negative thoughts and replace them with affirmations of self-love. As you nurture a positive self-image, you’ll find inner peace and improved emotional well-being. Remember, you are your own best friend, and it’s time to speak to yourself with the same kindness you’d offer to a friend.
Need support? Our TYSAH Affirmation Cards are an amazing tool to avoid negative self-talk, you can get your deck here.
Skipping meals is a self-care no-no. Say NO to neglecting your physical health by prioritizing balanced nutrition, regular meals, and staying hydrated. Your body and mind require proper nourishment to function optimally. Make time for well-balanced meals, hydrate with plenty of water, and treat yourself to nutritious snacks. By honoring your body’s needs, you’ll enjoy increased energy, better concentration, and a happier, healthier you. Write down your favorite meals in a journal so that you can keep track or your favorite and easy recipes. Check our hand-painted journal by a Salvadoran artist at www.tysah.com
Carry all your groceries in our eco-friendly jute bags and fill your fridge with fresh fruits and veggies.
In our TYSAH community, self-care and wellness are the cornerstones of a healing journey. Remember that saying NO to these wellness saboteurs is saying YES to a life filled with inner peace, balance, and contentment. Embrace these “Say NO to…” practices, and watch your well-being flourish. Treat yourself with the kindness and care you deserve.

]]>The boundaries you set are essential for your mental health. Without them, you risk overextending yourself, which can lead to stress and burnout. Set clear boundaries in your personal and professional life. Remember, it’s okay to say ‘no’ when necessary.
Sleep is your body’s way of recharging. Depriving yourself of sleep can result in fatigue, increased stress, and mood disturbances. Make sure you prioritize a good night’s rest. Your body and mind will thank you.
Constantly striving to please everyone can be a one-way ticket to mental exhaustion. It’s vital to balance your own needs and priorities. Remember, taking care of yourself should be a priority, too.
Bottling up your emotions can be detrimental to your mental health. It’s crucial to acknowledge and express your feelings. Don’t be afraid to share your thoughts with trusted friends or a therapist. Processing your emotions is a sign of strength, not weakness.
A few days ago, we shared this reminder on our social media: Feel Your Feelings x
The way you talk to yourself significantly affects your self-esteem and mental well-being. Negative self-talk can chip away at your confidence. Replace self-criticism with self-compassion. Be kind to yourself and practice positive self-affirmations, Gaby and I created a deck with 30 cards of affirmations, they can be a great tool to help you get started. Get them here or go to www.tysah.com
Your physical and mental health are closely intertwined. Neglecting physical health can lead to mental health issues. Regular exercise, a balanced diet, and proper hydration are essential for both your body and mind. Prioritize a healthy lifestyle to support your overall well-being. Here I share how I started my healing journey through exercise!
In conclusion, these “scary” habits can haunt your mental health. By addressing them head-on, you can take the first step toward a healthier and more balanced life. Setting boundaries, prioritizing sleep, focusing on your needs, acknowledging emotions, practicing self-compassion, and nurturing your physical health are essential components of your mental well-being. Embrace positive changes and treat yourself with the care and attention you deserve. Your mental health matters.

]]>It all started with those persistent back pains that felt far from ordinary. My body tried to tell me something, so I decided to listen. I visited my doctor, requesting a sonogram of my ovaries, suspecting cysts due to PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) might be behind the discomfort. But the sonogram revealed something unexpected – a mass in my uterus.
The initial 45-minute procedure turned into a two-hour surgery as the doctors found multiple masses in my uterus that hadn’t appeared on the initial scan. The diagnosis that followed was a shock- Endometrial Hyperplasia with Atypia. It meant the masses were not cancerous at that moment but pre-cancerous.
The idea of “pre-cancerous” sent a shiver down my spine. The long-term solution suggested was a hysterectomy. In case you’re wondering, a hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus, effectively ending any hope of bearing children. This heavy blow brought profound grief, anger, and sadness, especially considering my ongoing dream of biological motherhood.
Adding to the emotional turmoil, I endured a month of uncertainty and anxiety from when they discovered the mass to the surgery date. It was a month of not knowing what was growing inside me.
In the end, I faced a challenging decision. I chose to undergo a painful Mirena IUD implant procedure. This IUD offered temporary relief by releasing hormones to halt the growth of these ominous masses, although it wasn’t a lasting solution.
Now, I continue to focus on rebuilding my physical health and strength while exploring all available options. My community has been my unwavering support system throughout this emotional journey. TYSAH, or “Treat Your Self And Heal,” has meant altar work, deepening my spiritual practice, finding solace in nature through hikes with friends, hiring an Attunement Coach, and drawing strength from my community. It’s been a whirlwind of doctor’s appointments, experimenting with various medications, including herbal remedies, and understanding the importance of rest in this process.
Listening to my body and being proactive about my health led me to this discovering this before it became cancerous. While it’s been a challenging road, I’m determined to heal and explore every avenue available to me. Thank you for being on this journey with me, TYSAH community. Let’s continue to heal together.

]]>The post Embracing Transitions: Healing, Self-Care, and Wellness Are Essential! appeared first on TYSAH.
]]>“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”
Lao Tzu
As a mother of a child starting school, I’m dealing with new schedules, routines, and routes to avoid traffic. On top of that, I’m adjusting to a new job, finding my way back to my professional self, and striving to prioritize both my career and my well-being. It’s a lot to handle, but I’m not alone in this journey.
Here are some essential tips that have helped me navigate these transitions while ensuring I continue to prioritize my healing, self-care, and wellness:
It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life’s transitions, but I make sure to take care of myself. I’ve made self-care a non-negotiable part of my routine. Even if it’s just a few minutes each day, I find time to do something that brings me joy and relaxation. Whether it’s a quick meditation session, a soothing bath, or a few pages of a good book, these small acts of self-care have a significant impact on my mental well-being. I love taking long showers, these soaps available at TYSAH have been an amazing new tool for my routine.
With so many changes happening around me, maintaining some consistency in my daily routines provides a sense of stability and comfort. I continue practicing the routines that have supported my mental health and overall well-being. If going to the gym, taking a nap, or reading a book were part of my self-care regimen, I don’t give them up entirely. I adjust my schedule to accommodate these practices, even if it means carving out pockets of time during my day. With the gym for example, instead of quitting entirely, I have found that I even if I go twice a week it helps me stay sane.
I don’t hesitate to lean on my support network. Whether it’s my partner, family, or friends, I let them know what I’m going through and ask for help when needed. I delegate tasks and responsibilities when possible, so I can free up some time for myself. Asking for support is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Transitions can be challenging, but they also offer opportunities for growth and new experiences. I embrace change with an open mind and a positive attitude. Instead of dwelling on the challenges, I focus on the possibilities that lie ahead. My child’s new school, and my new job, dictate a new schedule, for example, instead of complaining about having to wait for about 40 minutes in the car, I’m using that time with excitement to read a book, listen to a podcast and even taking a quick nap. I will soon share another blog and will add to the TYSAH Resources page all the audiobooks and podcasts that are supporting me in the new routine.
Periodically, I take time to reflect on how I’m handling the transitions. Are there aspects of my life that need adjustment? Am I giving enough attention to my self-care and well-being? I remember that it’s okay to recalibrate and make changes as needed to find balance and peace in this new chapter of my life.
In the midst of these transitions, I remember that healing, self-care, and wellness are not optional luxuries; they are essential for my overall happiness and ability to navigate life’s challenges. I embrace change as an opportunity for growth, and I hold onto the practices and routines that bring me peace and clarity. I’ve got this!

]]>The post Agency as a Tool for Healing: Empowering Your Journey appeared first on TYSAH.
]]>Agency refers to one’s capacity to make choices and take intentional actions that shape their own well-being. It is the empowering realization that we have control over our lives and possess the ability to direct our healing process. While external factors and circumstances may impact us, agency teaches us that we can still influence our thoughts, emotions, and actions.
I remember I was at the limit of burnout, unhappy and scared to experiment a different lifestyle that prioritize my wellbeing and healing. I was afraid to quit a job, start a business and take back my power to lead and live a life in my own terms.
When we embrace agency as a tool for healing, we acknowledge that we are not passive recipients of our circumstances. We take ownership of our experiences and actively seek ways to navigate through them. Instead of waiting for external forces to fix us, we recognize the power within ourselves to initiate change and foster growth. This mindset shift empowers us to actively participate in our healing journey.
I realized that I had the power to change my circumstances and to trust that It was possible to create the life I wanted, that It was possible to be active in the economic system, to create value in a more balanced and healthy way were treating myself while healing was my No. 1 priority.
Agency begins with self-awareness, the foundation upon which personal healing is built. By developing a deep understanding of our thoughts, emotions, and patterns of behavior, we gain insights into our wounds and traumas. This awareness allows us to identify the areas that require healing and empowers us to make conscious choices aligned with our well-being. Through introspection and reflection, we uncover our strengths, resilience, and the capacity to heal.
Agency is not merely about acknowledging our power; it also involves taking inspired action. Armed with self-awareness, we can make intentional choices that support our healing process. This may involve seeking therapy, practicing self-care, setting boundaries, or engaging in activities that promote emotional and physical well-being. By taking action, we actively shape our lives and pave the way for transformative healing.
This is the part thatwas exciting and frightening, and it has changed my life for the past year and a half. However, it is the part that will last forever andheal not only myself but also future generations. The moment to take action! That jump and leap of faith. Faith in myself, faith that I have the ability and that I deserve a better lifestyle that prioritizes my wellbeing. This faith is what also allows me to confidently advocate for myself, loved ones and community. We live in an imperfect world with systems that were not created with our best interest in mind. Agency allows us to see this and push back.
The healing journey is not linear, and setbacks are inevitable. However, agency equips us with the resilience to navigate these challenges. When faced with obstacles, we can tap into our inner strength, reevaluate our strategies, and adjust our course. Embracing agency means acknowledging that setbacks are opportunities for growth rather than reasons to give up. By celebrating our progress, no matter how small, we reinforce the belief in our ability to heal.
On Monday despite the actions I am taking to heal, I was feeling so lost and depressed. However, I was able to allow myself to experience my feelings, be sad, and cry. I reflected on what was causing those emotions and was able to pivot, resulting in feeling better as the week progressed.
While agency emphasizes individual empowerment, it does not mean we have to face our healing journey alone. Seeking support from loved ones, therapists, support groups, or mentors can be instrumental in our growth. These connections provide us with additional tools, perspectives, and encouragement. Sharing our experiences and learning from others helps us broaden our understanding of agency and healing.
This has been key in my healing journey to date, having the TYSAH Community, Gaby my co-Founder, other friends, my exercise and yoga practice, nutrition, medicine and my therapist. We can not heal alone. I don’t think it would be possible.
Discovering the true meaning of agency in the context of healing has been transformative for me. It has empowered me to take control of my own well-being, recognizing that I have the power to heal and grow. By cultivating self-awareness, taking inspired action, navigating challenges, and seeking support, I continue to harness the transformative power of agency on my healing journey. Remember, you too possess agency—a remarkable tool for healing—and you have the power to shape your own path toward well-being. If you want to learn more about agency, don’t miss our July event with Dr. Dixon.

]]>At TYSAH, we recognize that each person is multifaceted, shaped by a unique combination of influences. We believe that true healing comes from embracing and interrogating who you are at your core, while also enjoying the adventure of exploration. Our mission is to provide you with the tools, resources, and support needed to embark on this healing journey and reclaim your authentic self.
T – TREAT: As a verb, “treat” means to give medical care or attention to someone, or to try to heal or cure them. As a noun, it refers to an event or item that is out of the ordinary and has the power to heal and cure. At TYSAH, treating yourself means prioritizing your well-being and engaging in activities and experiences that bring you joy, comfort, and healing. It’s about recognizing the importance of self-care and self-nurturing.
Y – YOUR: This simple word signifies ownership and belonging. It reminds us that the journey of treating yourself is deeply personal and individual. What works for someone else may not work for you. TYSAH acknowledges that there are countless ways to treat yourself, depending on your unique circumstances, preferences, and beliefs. Whether it’s taking a walk in nature, meditating, praying, pampering yourself with a spa day, enjoying a cup of tea, lighting a candle, or journaling, the possibilities are endless.
S – SELF: The concept of self is fundamental to our understanding of who we are as individuals. It represents our essential being, distinguishing us from others. At TYSAH, we encourage introspection and reflexive action. We invite you to explore your true self, to delve deep into your thoughts, emotions, and desires. Treating yourself involves reconnecting with your authentic self and embracing your uniqueness.
A – AND: This simple conjunction suggests continuity and discovery. It implies that there is always more to learn, experience, and uncover on your healing journey. Treating yourself is an ongoing process, not a one-time event. It’s about continually exploring and expanding your understanding of what brings you peace, joy, and healing.
H – HEAL: To heal is to alleviate distress or anguish, to bring about restoration and wholeness. At TYSAH, we firmly believe in the transformative power of healing, not only for ourselves but also for the broader community. We recognize that as individuals embark on their healing journeys, they contribute to the collective healing of society. By nurturing ourselves, we become agents of positive change and support for others. Healing is a courageous and transformative act.

Treating yourself is not about avoiding or masking underlying issues. TYSAH encourages you to get to the root of problems, to have difficult conversations, and to seek professional help when needed. We understand that healing requires agency—a sense of ownership over your choices, actions, and consequences. It’s about taking control of your life and empowering yourself to create a better future.
